4 Days · 3500m · Munsiyari · Panchachuli & Nanda Devi Views · 360° Panorama
Khaliya top trek reaches a meadow summit at 3500 metres (11,483 ft) above Munsiyari town in the Pithoragarh district of Kumaon, Uttarakhand. The view from the top is a 360° panorama of the Panchachuli massif (five peaks), Nanda Devi (7816m), Nanda Kot, Rajrambha, Hardeol, and Trishul — all visible from a single vantage point. In morning light, the Panchachuli I–V wall rising above the forest is widely considered one of the finest mountain vistas available from any accessible trail in the entire Kumaon Himalaya.
The trail from Munsiyari (2200m) to the summit is 9 km one way — 18 km round trip — through birch and rhododendron forest before opening onto the upper meadow. Altitude gain is 1300m over 5–6 km, which makes the route Easy-Moderate in difficulty: no technical sections, but a sustained climb requiring reasonable fitness. Temperatures on the summit range from −5°C in winter to a pleasant 15°C in spring. The rhododendrons burst into red and pink in April–May. Snow covers the upper trail from November through March, making it equally rewarding as a winter snow trek.
Munsiyari sits about 370 km from Haridwar — a 9–11 hour drive through Kathgodam and Almora into the Pithoragarh hills. The town is a well-established base for Kumaon trekking, with guesthouses, guides, and a Tribal Heritage Museum. Dev Yatra runs 4-day packages from Haridwar covering transport, accommodation, meals, and a local guide. The trek pairs well with Munsiyari's Zero Point viewpoint and Birthi Falls on the return day.
Panchachuli (five peaks), Nanda Devi (7816m), Nanda Kot, Hardeol and Trishul all visible from one point.

SHOULDER
Summer months (June) and early autumn (September) are also fine. Good views. Monsoon (Jul-Aug) — clouds may obscure peaks.
All our treks start from Haridwar . Reach Haridwar first:
Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun (35 km from Haridwar). Flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru available.
Haridwar Railway Station — well connected pan-India. Overnight trains from Delhi take 5-6 hours.
Delhi ISBT to Haridwar by Volvo (6 hrs). State buses connect Haridwar to all base towns.
Delhi to Haridwar 210 km (4-5 hrs via NH-58). Pickup from Delhi/Chandigarh/Dehradun available.
Khaliya Top trek from Munsiyari is hard to categorise as easy because the 1300m altitude gain in 5–6 km is constant and steep. But it is not technically difficult — just physically demanding. The reward is the closest ground-level view of the Panchachuli massif you can get without serious mountaineering. Start early (6 AM) — you want to reach the top by 10 AM before clouds build up on the peaks. April–May brings red and pink rhododendrons throughout the climb. October–November gives clear snow peak views. The horse option is available from Munsiyari.
The summit stands at 3500m (11,483 ft) in Pithoragarh district, Kumaon. The trail from Munsiyari (2200m) climbs 1300m in 9 km through dense birch and rhododendron forest before the meadow opens up. The 18 km round trip takes 6–7 hours total. No ropes or technical equipment needed — fitness and an early start are the only requirements.
The route is open October through June. Winter (November–March) brings snow to the summit and upper meadow — ideal for those seeking a snow experience without technical difficulty. Spring (April–May) is the rhododendron season with colourful forest and clear Panchachuli views. Monsoon (July–August) is not recommended — clouds obscure the peaks and paths turn slippery.
Few short treks in India offer a panorama of this quality. From this single meadow viewpoint you can see Panchachuli I–V, Nanda Devi (7816m), Nanda Kot (6861m), Hardeol, Rajrambha, and Trishul. The Panchachuli wall is the main draw — five connected summits rising above the Munsiyari valley in a way that no road viewpoint can match. Arrive before 10 AM for cloud-free conditions.
Munsiyari is 370 km from Haridwar — a 9–11 hour drive via Kathgodam, Almora, and Thal. Dev Yatra's 4-day package includes the full Haridwar–Munsiyari–Haridwar transfer, guesthouse stays, all meals on trek, local guide, and permits. The day after the trek, Munsiyari sightseeing (Zero Point, Tribal Heritage Museum, Birthi Falls) rounds out the trip before the return drive.
